Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov has accused Europe of speaking about human rights and European values only when it deems it appropriate and in its favor.
" Human rights and European values are seen by Europeans as something flexible. In fact, they continue their flexible line: when it is in their interest, they refer to these "universal values". When it is not in their interest, they they never do ," he said in an interview with the Moscow-Kremlin-Putin program on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, commenting on the West's silence on Ukraine's shelling attacks in Russia's border region of Belgorod.
He recalled that for years Western countries have ignored bombing attacks in Donbass, when there was no special military operation.
" There people have turned a blind eye to the murdered children, on the graves of the children in Donbas. And we did not hear a single word of condemnation from them ," he emphasized.
