Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who led Tehran's delegation in talks with Pakistan, says the US "ultimately failed to gain the trust of the Iranian delegation" during peace talks in Islamabad.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf says he stressed before the negotiations that Iran had "faith and goodwill," but because of his experiences in the previous two wars, he "did not trust the opposing side."
He says the Iranian delegation "raised forward-looking initiatives, but the opposing side ultimately failed to gain the trust of the Iranian delegation in this round of negotiations."
"We will not stop for a moment our efforts to consolidate the achievements of Iran's forty days of national defense," Ghalibaf said.
The United States and Iran have failed to reach a peace deal after talks in the Pakistani capital.
US Vice President JD Vance said Tehran refused to accept Washington's terms after 21 hours of talks in Islamabad.
"The bad news is that we haven't reached a deal, and I think that's bad news for Iran much more than it is for the United States of America," JD Vance told reporters, shortly before leaving Islamabad after the highest-level meeting between Washington and Tehran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
Iran's Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that no one had expected talks with the US to reach an agreement in a single session.
"Of course, from the beginning, we should not have expected to reach an agreement in a single session. No one had such an expectation," said ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.
