According to Forbes' list last year, he was the 21st richest Hungarian, and according to the 100 richest list, he was the 14th richest person.
Hungarian billionaire György Wáberer has offered a reward of 300,000 forints (750–800 euros) to anyone who reports or uncovers electoral fraud in the April 12 vote.
The reward will also go to those who were themselves involved in the fraud in question, the billionaire entrepreneur announced in a Facebook post.
György Wáberer said he is offering "this cash prize to protect the integrity of the April 12 elections."
Wáberer recently took a clear stance against Viktor Orban, uploading a video to his social media page in which he spoke about the elections in Hungary.
"In the parliamentary elections, people will have to decide whether they want to belong to Europe or to the Russians," he stressed.
He said he grew up with the word "Russian" as a curse word and found it unimaginable that "we would be friends with them when we could be members of a European community and NATO."
"Orbán said earlier that it is a problem whether interstate treaties should be kept secret," noted Wáberer, who also considers it unacceptable that the Hungarian Foreign Minister maintains friendly relations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
However, the tipping point was when Viktor Orbán supported George Simion, known for his anti-Hungarian views, in the Romanian presidential election.
Prime Ministerial candidates Péter Magyar and Viktor Orbán also reacted to his post, and the prime minister's close aide, János Nagy, wrote that he was deeply disappointed by it.
Wáberer, has held government positions for several years under Orbán's regime.
Wáberer also held the position of government commissioner responsible for the development of the Tokaj-Zemplén region from July 2020 to February 2023, and was the prime minister's representative responsible for the development of Hungarian logistics and road transport from 2015.
According to the Forbes list last year, he was the 21st richest Hungarian, and according to the list of the 100 richest people, he was the 14th richest person. In 2023, he sold his majority stake in Waberer's International, one of the largest road transport companies in Europe, to István Tiborcz, and two days later he resigned from his position as government commissioner.
