Russia's most important opposition leader for the past decade, Alexei Navalny, has died in prison in Siberia, a statement issued by a local department of the Federal Prison Service said.
A key opponent of President Vladimir Putin, Navalny was serving a 19-year prison sentence for crimes widely considered politically motivated. Au was arrested in 2021.
