Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there is a "good chance" of reaching a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, which would include the release of hostages still held in the Gaza Strip.
During an interview with "Fox Business" shortly before his meeting with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon, Netanyahu said that mediation by Qatar, Egypt and the US is continuing intensively.
"I believe there is a good chance that we will have a ceasefire ," Netanyahu said, confirming that negotiations are continuing intensively in Doha, with the mediation of Qatar, Egypt and the US.
According to an Israeli official, the main obstacle in the talks remains Israel's demand to maintain its military presence in Gaza, specifically in the Morag Corridor, north of Rafah.
Even if an agreement is reached to stop the fighting, Tel Aviv insists that Israeli troops remain in this strategic area.
Netanyahu also emphasized his foreign policy philosophy, adding that peace in the region can only be achieved through force.
He referred to his alliance with US President Donald Trump and support for the so-called "doctrine of peace through strength".
"We have shown great strength and it seems to be bearing fruit for peace. This could help expand the Abraham Accords and create a new reality in the Middle East, with more prosperity and stability," Netanyahu declared.
