A powerful explosion occurred around 03.00 at night on Lagumixi Street in the Kalithea area of Athens.
According to the first information, the explosive substance was placed outside the warehouse and probably exploded by remote control.
The explosion was extremely powerful and damaged over 10 cars and broke the windows of dozens of homes. Fortunately, there were no human injuries.
Police say the act was the work of rival gangs who are in an ongoing battle for control of Athens' nightlife.
Even in the past, the depot in question has been a target in the war between gangs. In the last three years, the mafia groups are reforming after the executions that happened in Athens, where dozens of mobsters from different gangs were killed.
The Greek Minister of Citizen Protection declared that the state has launched a war against gangs and will not stop until it destroys them.
Experts say the gangs are in a constant battle since the activity of the oil contraband in Greece exceeds 1.5 billion euros.
Over 1 billion are the benefits from cigarette smuggling and nearly 600 million are benefited from the traffic of alcoholic and soft drinks, while the drug and prostitution traffic exceeds 1 billion euros per year.
