Egypt has stated that its mediators have presented a framework that would bring an end to the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Their plan proposes three "sequential and interconnected" phases, ending in a permanent ceasefire, but no further details were shared.
Hamas and Israel are said to have received the proposals and Egypt is awaiting responses.
" Cairo will provide further details of the plan once responses are received from the parties ," Diaa Rashwan, head of Egypt's state information service, said in a statement.
He added that the proposal is an attempt to reconcile views among all interested parties in an effort to stop Palestinian bloodshed and aggression against the Gaza Strip and restore peace and stability in the region.
Egypt confirms that it has not yet received any response to the proposed framework from any of the interested parties.
Sources close to Egypt's leadership previously told the Reuters news agency that the proposal included a multi-stage ceasefire that includes the release of prisoners by Israel and Hamas.
