The President of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has criticized anti-Semitic actions in Europe.
Commenting on the demonstrations and posts on social networks, Von der Leyen told the German "Bild" that cheering for terrorism, anti-Semitism or violence against minorities is a low act and has no place in Europe.
The President of the EU Commission emphasized that our open democratic societies are the great strength of Europe.
"However, openness also makes us vulnerable. This is why we must fight hatred against those who think differently, whether on social media or on our streets," Von der Leyen said.
There were large pro-Palestinian demonstrations in several European capitals at the weekend, amid growing criticism of Israel's continued bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
