Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said he expects to sign an agreement to buy fighter jets during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Belgrade this week.
"It's a big contract for our country and it's not a small contract for France either," said Vučić during an interview with the AFP agency.
The agreement for the purchase of French Rafale aircraft is expected to be multibillion.
Macron will be on an official visit to Serbia on August 29 and 30.
This will be the second visit of the French president to Serbia in the last five years, as the two countries are strengthening their relations, especially in the field of economy.
In February 2023, Vucic told reporters that the purchase of Rafale aircraft will be the largest purchase from the budget of the Serbian army, "at a value of 3 billion euros".
Military issues will be part of the talks during the visit to Serbia, Macron confirmed at a press conference on July 18 during the European Political Community Summit, which was held in the United Kingdom.
