"I hope and believe that this new information may be useful in clarifying the circumstances of my brother's murder."
Mark Epstein's allusion in an interview with Repubblica is serious, suggesting that the revelations contained in the emails and documents recently published could contain information on hypothetical motives for the elimination of the financier at the center of the pedophilia scandal. Mark has never believed the official version of suicide, not even when the Trump administration confirmed it a few months ago, after having seen the videos recorded by the prison cameras, thus denying the commitment made by the president during the electoral campaign to publish all the documents of the case that still remained secret. He is convinced of this because Jeffrey had never spoken to him about the possibility of suicide; he was not the type of person who would do such a thing. More importantly, while in prison, he was focused on his legal defense to get out of there.
What do you think about the newly discovered messages?
"I didn't know they were coming out, I wasn't involved in researching and publishing them. Honestly, I'm not really interested in Jeffrey's case in terms of the details of what he did, because he's already dead. What I'm really interested in is clarifying the circumstances surrounding his murder."
According to the official version of the Department of Justice and the FBI, your brother killed himself in prison. You don't believe it?
"No, I never believed it."
Why?
"My brother had no intention of ending his life, he wanted to defend himself to be declared innocent, and I remain convinced that he was murdered."
In the emails released yesterday, your brother writes that President Trump was aware of his activities with the girls and had spent several hours at Jeffrey's home with one of the victims, identified by the White House itself as Virginia Giuffrè. What do you think of these revelations?
"They don't surprise me at all. They're just confirmation that Trump is a liar when he says he didn't know and didn't hang out with my brother. He's spouting an incredible amount of nonsense."
You have always maintained that Jeffrey had a very solid friendship with Donald before he became president: they knew each other, they hung out, and you often saw them together. Do these emails represent confirmation of this personal relationship between them?
"Without a doubt. I think they are proof that what I have always said is true."
You also claimed that your brother had compromising information about many people, including Trump, but the White House commented that the president's meetings with Virginia Giuffrè were well-known and that she herself had always maintained that nothing unacceptable had ever happened to the future president of the United States. Do you dare to deny this version?
"I know what my brother told me, and on various occasions he had told me that he had compromising information about several people."
If your goal remains to clarify the circumstances of your brother's death, and to prove that he did not kill himself, do you think that the documents published in these hours could help to uncover the truth?
"I hope so and I think so. All the information that sheds light on his relationships could be useful in understanding what happened and clarifying the circumstances of his murder, because that's what it's all about."
Are you saying that your brother may have been killed because he had potentially dangerous information about several people, including Donald Trump, who was a private citizen at the time?
“Yes, exactly.”/ La Repubblica
