
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, in an interview with the BBC today, has expressed his shock at the news that King Charles was diagnosed with cancer and hopes that the British monarch will recover as soon as possible, since the disease was detected at an early stage.
"Our thoughts are with him and his family. You know, luckily, he was diagnosed in time ," Sunak told BBC radio.
So far, according to reports, King Charles plans to continue to carry out many of his private duties as monarch, including his weekly communications with the British prime minister.
While the Prince of Wales is expected to return to royal duties on Wednesday, his first public service since his wife underwent abdominal surgery last month.
He will host an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle tomorrow, before attending the London Air Ambulance's annual fundraising gala in London.
Prince William's return to work comes at a difficult time for the 41-year-old heir to the throne.
