With Trump in the White House, it seems like nothing will stop Kushner and Ivanka Trump in the years to come. With his business acumen and her charm, the couple could take on the world.
On the same day that Donald Trump was backing down from his attempt to annex Greenland, about a thousand miles away, Ivanka Trump was showing her father how it's really done by acquiring an island of her own.
Mrs. Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, an unofficial adviser to the president, have secured a deal to transform Sazan, one of the last uninhabited islands in the Mediterranean, into a luxury tourist resort.

While the president is estimated to have earned at least $1.4 billion (£1 billion) in the past year, according to a New York Times analysis, his daughter and son-in-law are also doing quite well financially. The Albanian deal, structured while Trump was out of office, is another example of the family’s enrichment. Mrs Trump, 44, was in high spirits last Wednesday as her motorcade entered the Albanian resort town of Orikum, accompanied by Edi Rama, the country’s long-time prime minister.

Mrs. Trump was seen with a big smile on her face, elegant as always, wearing a long camel-colored coat, high heels and a luxurious bag in her hand.
No wonder she was smiling. In fact, she was laughing on the way to the bank, having followed the lessons of her father’s 1987 book, The Art of the Deal. The deal, brokered by Kushner’s investment vehicle, Atlantic Incubation Partners LLC, is valued at around £1 billion ($1.4 billion). That investment vehicle is then linked to Affinity Partners, a private equity fund Kushner created months after his father-in-law lost the 2020 election. The fund raised billions of dollars, much of it from a Saudi sovereign wealth fund.

Kushner’s dealings have raised suspicions, as have those of the president’s two eldest sons, Eric and Donald Jr., who run the Trump Organization (both are executive vice presidents), overseeing their father’s empire of real estate, hotels and golf courses, as well as launching lucrative cryptocurrency ventures that have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in the first year of Trump’s second term alone. But little has been written about Ivanka’s business acumen. Her trip to Albania last week sheds a little more light on her for-profit activities.

The deals in Albania have also raised eyebrows in Washington, as has another project in Serbia. Again through Atlantic Incubation Partners, the Serbian government agreed in 2024 to a joint venture to redevelop the Serbian army headquarters in Belgrade, bombed by NATO in 1999. The deal, signed in February 2024, was only made public last November by a Serbian investigative magazine. Kushner plans to turn the area into a hotel complex with a museum dedicated to “victims of NATO aggression.”
According to Forbes, Kushner and Ivanka Trump now own a fortune of around $1.1 billion, becoming the second-richest members of the Trump family after the president.
Kushner is involved in many areas, including serving as an unofficial advisor to his father-in-law, Trump's "confidant" on world peace issues. If he moves forward with the Gaza plans and talks with Vladimir Putin, he hopes to bring Trump the award the president seems to want more than anything else: the Nobel Peace Prize.
In Davos, while his wife enjoyed Albania, Kushner presented his “master plan” to turn Gaza into a 180-tower seaside resort. He then held a face-to-face meeting with Putin in the Kremlin to push forward a peace deal in Ukraine.
Concerns about conflicts of interest have been raised, mainly by Democrats but also within the Trump administration. One source said: “It has created some concern. But Jared has his own business world to build and he has the right to do so.”
On Wednesday, in Albania, Ivanka Trump and Edi Rama discussed coastal development plans over lunch at the luxury Bojo resort. Rama, who was supposed to be in Davos, chose to stay in the country. “I had to choose between father and daughter, and I chose daughter,” he told the Assembly.
Ivanka Trump, who converted to Judaism in 2009, requested kosher food. Chef Henri Fejzulla said everything was prepared according to strict rules. “Ivanka was simple, very modest,” he said.
"Albania is magical!" she posted on Instagram.
