China, Russia and Iran have been accused of fueling conspiracy theories about the illness of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, to destabilize Britain.
The princess announced in a video on Friday that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was continuing chemotherapy sessions. However the rumors continued, including outlandish claims that her video was created by AI (Artificial Intelligence), while others criticized her for not going public earlier about her illness and why William was not by Kate's side when she showed her condition in the video.
The British media Daily Mail has devoted an article to this situation, while saying that China, Russia and Iran are promoting conspiracy theories.
The Daily Mail refers to government sources when it says that 'hostile' states seek to destabilize Britain, whether by undermining the legitimacy of elections or other institutions."
According to the Daily Mail, Downing Street is preparing to formally blame China for a 2021 cyber attack on the electoral commission. Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Doden has said he will tell MPs that China was behind the attack, where hackers gained access to the personal data of 40 million British voters.
Meanwhile, Christopher Bouzy, chief executive of technology and a staunch supporter of Harry and Meghan, has claimed Kate's diagnosis was false and accused the palace of "North Korea"-style propaganda.
"I'm sorry to hear that Kate has cancer, I hope she makes a full recovery. But it is also clear that all three previous photos of her were fake and the palace tried to cover it up," he wrote.
Several celebrities and commentators, including Blake Lively and Kerry Katona, have apologized for their careless comments about Kate.
Paddy Harverson, the former official spokesman for Kate and the Prince of Wales, said her online targeting was the worst he had seen.
'It's a kind of perpetual cycle of punishment. And it's the worst I've ever seen," he told the BBC.
Harry and Meghan are believed to have contacted William and Kate 'privately' on Friday night following the princess' video announcing she had cancer.
