Ukraine has launched a counteroffensive against the Russian army. At least this is what the Ukrainian media "KyivPost" claims.
The Ukrainian army has warned that through this offensive it aims to return the territories occupied by Russia since February 2022.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked not to have high expectations for this action, which is expected to last for several months.
Political science professor Michael McFaul has stated that if the Ukrainian military cannot massively fight the Russians in the coming months, it must do so in the coming years.
In a statement to CNBC, McFaul said that Ukraine will need support from Western countries, while adding that the desire may be greater "than most Republicans".
"I hope that the Ukrainians can push back the Russian invaders in the coming months, but if they can't, they should plan new counterattacks in the fall of 2024, in 2025... They will need our support ", said the political science professor.
