The Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Nikolay Patrushev, has stated that the Ukrainian leadership was ready to resolve the conflict with Russia, but gave up peace under US pressure.
According to him, the Ukrainian side had created a peace draft which it had submitted to the Turkish delegation, which had entered as a guarantor to mediate the peace. But according to him, everything was rejected by the US.
"If it were not for the pressure of the USA on those at the head of Ukraine, this situation would not have happened, even the Ukrainian leaders themselves were ready to sign a peace treaty and gave Russia written proposals," said Patrushev . referring to the negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Turkey in March last year.
The Russian official claimed that during the talks the Kiev delegation submitted its proposals during the negotiations, but in the evening they gave up.=
" This happened only because the United States had put pressure on them and said that negotiations should not take place" , emphasized the secretary of the Security Council of Russia.
