NATO head Mark Rutte, at a press conference at the end of the summit held in Turkey, also spoke about the clashes occurring within the Alliance itself.
Asked by journalists about the clashes between Turkey and Greece, as well as the recent comments by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who stated that his country is under threat, Mark Rutte preferred not to comment.
Rutte said that there are 32 nations within the Alliance and that there may be disagreements between the parties, but stressed that his job is not to be a commentator, but to provide behind-the-scenes assistance if requested.
"There can be friction between allies, we are 32 nations. I am not a commentator, I am for maintaining unity, I do my best to maintain the unity of the Alliance. When there is friction between allies, I do not comment in public. I am behind the scenes, if the parties involved want and if they consider my help useful ," Rutte said.
