NATO Secretary General acknowledges shortcomings from some countries, while emphasizing the contribution of most allies
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte acknowledged that there had been shortcomings from some member states, but stressed that most allies had provided substantial support.
Speaking to CNN, he stated that "some countries" did not rise to the occasion, however, he clarified that "the majority of European countries did what they promised."
According to him, many countries contributed in a concrete way by providing bases, logistical facilities, and permission for flights over their territory, fulfilling commitments at a critical moment.
Rutte described the meeting with Donald Trump as "frank and open", noting that the US president expressed his dissatisfaction with the stance of some allies.

At the same time, Mark Rutte stated that the world is safer today compared to the period before the war with Iran.
Responding to a question on this issue, he said that this is related to Donald Trump's leadership, underlining that the weakening of Tehran's military capabilities is "very important" for security in the US, Europe and the Middle East.
Trump: "NATO wasn't there when we needed it"
After the meeting ended, Donald Trump reacted with a harsh message, accusing NATO of not standing by the United States when needed.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, he wrote that "NATO was not there when we needed it and will not be there when we need it again," calling for this to be remembered.
In the same message, he also referred to Greenland, describing it as a "large piece of mismanaged ice."
It should be noted that there was no immediate information from the White House about the content of the meeting. However, earlier, spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt confirmed that the possibility of withdrawing from NATO was part of the agenda of the talks.
