Iran has decided that Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will lead the negotiating delegation in the talks to be held in Islamabad. According to the Iranian news agency ISNA, Ghalibaf will lead Tehran's team in the meetings scheduled for Friday in Pakistan.
The United States has confirmed that the American delegation will be led by Vice President JD Vance. The White House said he will be accompanied by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, advisor and son-in-law of President Donald Trump.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt stressed that Vance has been a key figure in this process from the beginning. "He has played a very important and key role from the beginning. He is the president's right-hand man and has been involved in all of these discussions," she said.
The talks in Islamabad are expected to be an important step in efforts to reduce tensions between the two countries and advance the diplomatic process.
