The Mitsotakis government has survived the motion of no confidence in the Parliament after 158 MPs of the parliamentary group of conservatives in power and 1 other MP from the opposition rejected it.
Of the 300 present in the hall, only 141 legislators voted in favor, an insufficient number to overthrow the government.
The leader of the Greek Socialists of Pasok submitted to the parliament two days ago the motion of no confidence in the Mitsotakis government signed by three other opposition parties, Syriza, the New Left and the Freedom Movement.
This political development with the vote of confidence has come immediately after the publication of an article in the newspaper "To Vima" where it is revealed that the records of the telephone conversations between the manager of the Larisa station and the driver of one of the trains that collided in the fatal accident of Tembi with 57 victims, have been partially deleted and published incompletely.
For its part, the largest opposition party Syriza, through its leader Stefanos Kasselakis, has called on Prime Minister Mitsotakis to resign so that the country can go to early elections with the presence of international observers. The government spokesman responded to the statement by saying that the leader of the opposition undermines the Greek state and democracy, which has held free elections for 50 years.
