Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, has denied reports that Mojtaba Khamenei is in Moscow for medical treatment.
The reaction comes after Kuwaiti media outlet Al-Jarida published a report that Khamenei had been transferred to Russia after being injured in joint US-Israeli attacks. The same report claimed that his father and wife had also been killed in these attacks.
According to Al-Jarida, Russian President Vladimir Putin had sent him a personal invitation for treatment in Russia, guaranteeing specialized medical care.
Other Kuwaiti media reported that the operation to remove him from Iran was kept secret and involved transport by Russian military aircraft. It was also claimed that he was placed in a presidential residence and underwent surgery on his leg.
However, Ambassador Jalali rejected these claims, stressing that reports of Mojtaba Khamenei's presence in Russia are not true.
