Bad weather has affected central and northern Italy. Extensive damage and disruptions due to rain and wind have been reported in Tuscany, especially on the island of Elba and throughout the province of Livorno.
On the island of Elba, at least 200 people are stranded due to a landslide blocking traffic. Another 50 mm of rain fell on the island of Elba after yesterday's storm and flooding has been reported.
The Milan-Lecco railway line was suspended due to the intervention of firefighters, who managed to stop a train just a few meters from a sinkhole caused by bad weather near the Bulciago (Lecco) train station, one of the areas most affected by the strong storm in recent hours.
Roads have also been flooded in the provinces of Bergamo and Varese. In the last 24 hours, firefighters have responded 280 times in Lazio, Liguria, Tuscany and Lombardy.

Problems and numerous calls for help have been received due to flooding, landslides and dangerous trees, not only in the provinces of Lecco, but also in those of Como and Varese, where firefighters are continuing operations to secure the affected areas.
In Friuli, a campsite in the Riviera, which housed around 2,300 people, was evacuated. They were moved to other facilities in the city.
Firefighters from the Bergamo provincial command intervened extensively, but no injuries were reported.
