The rebel leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani has spoken about the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, as well as about his country's strategy. He said that the revolution in Syria has completely triumphed, but we must not adopt vindictive practices.
As reported by the Times of Israel, al-Golani, the leader of the Syrian Islamist rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) said that Israel no longer has "other justifications" to carry out airstrikes in Syria.
In an interview with a Syrian TV channel, he said that recent IDF attacks on Syrian soil have crossed "red lines" and led to an unjustified escalation in the region. During a new bombardment last week, the Israeli military struck more than 350 targets in Syria to remove stockpiles of strategic weapons, thereby preventing the Assad regime's advanced equipment from falling into enemy hands.
Without specifically mentioning Israel, Al-Sharaa implies that under his leadership, Syria will not attack the Israeli state. He says that at this stage, Syria will not be drawn into conflicts that could lead to further destruction, with reconstruction and stability as top priorities.
Al-Jolani adds that the presence of Iran in Syria constituted a great danger for Syria itself, for the neighboring countries and for the Gulf.
"We succeeded in ending the Iranian presence in Syria, but we are not enemies of the Iranian people," he said.
