A Ukrainian soldier has shocked the world with a farewell video, in which he documents the tragic state of his unit and the lack of guidance from his superior officers.
The video, published by military correspondent Chingis Dabiyev, reveals the dramatic conditions prevailing in the positions near Kupyansk, where the soldier is seriously injured and in a tragic psychological state.
The soldier, with his head bandaged and visible wound marks, records his message, expressing his despair and hopelessness at the abandonment he feels from his command.
"The command abandoned us. Two days ago they were here: the unit commander and others, but now there is no one and it is impossible to communicate with anyone. We don't know what to do," he says in the video, underlining the feeling of abandonment that both he and other soldiers on the front are experiencing.
The soldier continues to describe the difficult situation on the front, where Russian forces have the advantage and continue the attack at an intense pace. "Russian forces have a huge advantage. The attack has been going on for three days, the artillery is working intensively and we have no more ammunition," he adds.
The atmosphere in the video becomes even more serious when the soldier, with tears in his eyes, talks about his mother. "Tell my mother, Irina Alekseyevna Bondarenko, that I'm not coming back. Goodbye," he says, before ending the video, tearful.
Before this shocking video, another captured Ukrainian soldier, Oleksandr Sychugov, had revealed the heavy losses suffered by the army at the front. He told representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry that fighters were "simply disappearing," describing the atmosphere of horror and despair at the front.
This tragic recording and the soldiers' testimonies reveal the tension, despair and lack of guidance that Ukrainian fighters experienced on the battlefield, while the personal story of the soldier who said "goodbye" to his mother reminds us of the horrors of war and its human side.
