United States President Donald Trump again warned Iran on Tuesday to accept a deal to end the conflict, declaring that "an entire civilization will die tonight" if an agreement is not reached.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that he does not want this to happen, but added that such a scenario "will very likely happen."
He also said that, if "complete and total regime change" occurs, the way could be opened for new developments in Iran.
Trump described the night as "one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world" and added that "47 years of blackmail, corruption and death will finally come to an end."
At the end of the message, he congratulated the "great people of Iran."
" An entire civilization will die tonight, never to return. I don't want it to happen, but maybe it will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionary and wonderful could happen, who knows?
"We will discover tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world. 47 years of extortion, corruption and death, will finally come to an end. God bless the Great People of Iran! " Trump wrote.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials reported damage to at least two bridges, railway infrastructure and a key highway on Tuesday, as part of a wave of deadly US-Israeli airstrikes on infrastructure targets.
According to regional officials quoted by Iranian state media, a bridge near the holy city of Qom and another carrying a railway line in the central city of Kashan were hit.
Two people were killed and three others were injured in Kashan, senior regional security official Akbar Salehi said, according to the state news agency IRNA.
A main highway in northern Iran, connecting the major northern city of Tabriz to Tehran via Zanjan, was also closed after a blast about 90 kilometers from Tabriz, IRNA reported, citing an official.
A Telegram channel of Iran's Revolutionary Guards said the attack hit an overpass. Meanwhile, the Mizan news agency also reported a strike on railway tracks in Karaj, near Tehran, with footage showing Red Crescent teams carrying a wounded man on a stretcher.
This development further deepens tensions in the conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel, while political statements and attacks on infrastructure are adding to insecurity on the ground.
