Yemen's Houthi rebels have said they have no intention of increasing their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, stressing that their aim remains to blockade Israel and retaliate against the US and Britain.
Spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam, who is also the rebel group's chief negotiator in peace talks over the country's decade-long civil war, said the group had no plans to strike Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
"We don't want the escalation to expand, that's not our objective," he said.
The Iran-aligned Houthis, who control most of Yemen's populated areas, have attacked Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea since October in what they say is a show of solidarity with Palestine.
