US President Donald Trump has rejected claims that he broke his campaign promise to keep the United States out of any new military conflict, stressing that he had not promised that there would be no war.
" Well, okay. First of all, I didn't guarantee any war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world ," he said in an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press."
Trump defended his military efforts in Venezuela and Iran, saying they are not as long-term as US engagements in Iraq and Vietnam.
"We'll be there for a few months. And the threat is largely over. Soon, it will be over. But you can't let Iran have a nuclear weapon, or they'll blow you up ," Trump said.
