National protests in Israel over the release of hostages, while the attack on the hospital in Gaza has sparked international outrage...
Hundreds of Israeli citizens, including family members of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, took to the streets today in a massive protest, declaring a "National Day of Revolt."
With highway blockades, burning tires, and calls for an immediate agreement to release hostages, the message was clear: Enough with the war, bring our loved ones home.
The protest symbolically opened at 6:29 a.m., the exact time Hamas carried out the surprise attack that shocked Israel on October 7, 2023. Large Israeli flags were unfurled in front of the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv, as organizers from the Hostage Families Forum declared: “It is time for our leaders not to leave the negotiating table without a comprehensive agreement.”
Hagit Chen, the mother of soldier Itay Chen, killed on October 7, was among the strongest voices: “There is an offer on the table. We demand that our leaders not leave until they guarantee the return of every hostage.”
Yehuda Cohen, the father of hostage Nimrod Cohen, added: "Over 80% of the citizens want an agreement to end the war and return the hostages. Everyone wants an end to this nightmare."
Netanyahu hesitates as world reacts with anger over bombed hospital
The protests erupted just a day after a double Israeli attack on the Nasser hospital in Gaza left at least 20 people dead, including five journalists. According to reports, Israeli forces carried out a “second attack” just as people had gathered to help the wounded and report from the scene.
Netanyahu called the incident "a tragic disaster," but the international reaction was much harsher:
The UN called for “justice and accountability.” To date, 247 Palestinian journalists have been killed since October 7, 2023.
The EU called the attack "totally unacceptable" and demanded a full investigation.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said he was "appalled" by the attack and called for an immediate ceasefire.
President Macron called the attack on the hospital "intolerable" and emphasized the protection of journalists as a humanitarian obligation.
Spain described the attack as a "flagrant violation of international humanitarian law."
Donald Trump, when asked, said he was unaware of the details, but added: "I'm not happy. We have to end this nightmare."
Diplomatic procrastination between pressure and ambition for "total victory"
Despite Hamas accepting the latest ceasefire proposal from Egyptian and Qatari mediators, Israel has yet to issue an official response. Netanyahu insists on a comprehensive deal that ensures the release of all hostages and an end to the war on Israeli terms.
According to sources from the security cabinet, a new military offensive against Gaza City is being considered - while Israeli society is divided between demands for peace and the war agenda. /Pamphlet
