A woman filmed the moment an avalanche hit Val Veny, part of the Courmayeur ski resort in northwestern Italy, killing two people. The tragic moment happened on Tuesday morning, and the footage, filmed by Siobhan Halford, shows a group of people, including children, sitting in a queue waiting for a cable car when they are suddenly hit by the avalanche.
"We were standing in line waiting for the cable car when a lot of people started looking back and pointing at an avalanche that was happening in the valley. At first it was something magical and incredible to see," Halford tells the BBC.

She continues, "suddenly, the snow cloud started to get closer and closer and we all knew it was going to hit us. Within seconds, it covered us. The children who were with us started screaming and crying, we couldn't see, it was hard to breathe. There was a lot of panic."
"A lot of people ask us why we didn't run and just stood there doing nothing. What they need to understand is that we had nowhere to go. We were just waiting for the cable car, putting on our ski boots and everything happened in seconds," he concluded.
