The Houthi rebel movement in Yemen has declared that it is ready to militarily support Iran in its confrontation with the United States and Israel, according to a statement by a representative of the group to the Reuters agency.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Houthis are "fully militarily ready with all options," while emphasizing that the group is closely following developments in the conflict to determine the right moment for action.
According to him, Iran is currently holding a favorable position in the confrontation, but a change in the situation could lead to a reassessment of the Houthis' stance.
The Houthis are considered one of the groups in the region that are supported by Iran, although they have so far avoided direct involvement in the conflict, unlike Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The development is significant because of Yemen's strategic location, which straddles the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, two maritime corridors of key importance for global trade. A possible Houthis' involvement could significantly impact the security of these routes and increase uncertainty in international energy markets.
