US President Joe Biden said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is 'harming Israel more than helping'.
He also said that Israel "cannot have another 30,000 Palestinians dead as a result of continued fighting.
Biden added that causing mass civilian casualties is also "contrary to what Israel stands for."
Washington has urged the Israeli prime minister not to launch a major offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah until a plan is put in place for the mass evacuation of civilians.
"More than half of Gaza's 2.3 million residents are in the Rafah area. An IDF invasion there would be Biden's red line," he told MSNBC.
"Israel's defense is still critical. So there is no red line at which I will cut off all weapons so they don't have an air defense system," he continued.
Biden insisted that Netanyahu "must pay more attention to the innocent lives that are being lost as a result of the actions taken.
He reiterates calls for a six-week ceasefire to allow hostages to be released and aid to be delivered.
