After heated debate, Israeli forces chief accepts plan to invade Gaza

Following the order issued by the Israeli Security Council for a full-scale offensive on Gaza City, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, stated that, despite previous objections to the plan, the army is committed to implementing it in the best possible way.

"We will continue to lead based on the national responsibility that the army and its command bear. We are responsible for military readiness, the security of the state and our citizens, for the return of the hostages and for the defeat of Hamas, and we will accomplish this mission ," Zamir said during a meeting with commanders and senior officers.

According to the official statement, the General Staff has begun work on a new operational plan that will be characterized by in-depth planning and a high level of preparation in all areas.

"We are deepening our planning and will prepare to the highest possible level. As always, we will fulfill our duty with full professionalism ," Lieutenant General Zamir further said.

He also stressed that the top priorities remain the protection of hostages and the preservation of the core values of the Israeli army. In his speech, Zamir added that it is essential to provide clarity to troops and commanders, as well as to plan operations with consistency and necessary tactical pauses.

" The fight continues and every further step will be taken in accordance with the principles of national responsibility, rebuilding forces and protecting the values we represent ," he concluded.

The situation in the Gaza Strip remains tense, while the international community continues to follow developments on the ground with concern.
