The Meloni government, an ugly copy of "Il Cavaliere"

The Meloni government, an ugly copy of "Il Cavaliere"

In short, this 'Meloni 1' government looks like a "posthumous Berlusconi", at least in its evocation.

In fact, every two weeks there is a dedication to Silvio Berlusconi. It even reaches the Messina Strait Bridge, by Matteo Salvini, who, imitating him, has performed several times with models in the style of Bruno Vespa. The presidents of the two regions involved applaud in his memory: Renato Schifani, one of the authors of many "praises" to grant him immunity in the good old days, and Roberto Occhiuto, who, fresh from a corruption investigation, is preparing to lead Calabria in a vote against the judges.

Everything is very Berlusconi-style, like the Justice reform, also dedicated to Cavaliere, which achieves its goal once the rest of his program has been implemented: eliminating abuse of office, investigating influence peddling and cracking down on wiretapping.

The Prime Minister also shares her views against the judiciary, which "has a political agenda" towards those who wanted to legally overthrow him. The only thing we are missing is Mubarak's niece, but Giorgia Meloni has already voted her into the government, along with several other key figures of this era, from La Russa to Giorgetti, Santanchè, Urso, Crosetto, Casellati and all the members of Forza Italia, including Fitton, who is now in Europe.

In the absence of hedonism and elegant dinners, on the other hand, there are about twenty amnesties, just like then, ministers and undersecretaries under investigation, local scandals and the seizure of television stations, for which the government yesterday received a serious infringement procedure from the EU. Even without the epic story of the Bulgarian decree, the result is the same. And if Niccolò Ghedini, Cavaliere's unforgettable lawyer, were here, he would be proud to see his Dr. Strangelove method applied every day: legal compulsion to solve political and judicial problems.

Here's what's happening in Albania: since it's impossible to say that the third country model doesn't work, we're stuck in the smoke and mirrors of squabbles that then collapse into reality. And the same thing is happening in the Almasri case, where Carlo Nordio has inherited the miser's stick, and is now wondering how to extend the shield to his chief of staff. It would have been enough to declare the issue a matter of national security, and that would have been the end of the matter. Instead, in doing so, they chose to reignite the conflict with the judges. Unwittingly, or perhaps consciously, in search of an enemy to give a narrative to an immobile government.

In short, this 'Meloni 1' government looks like a "posthumous Berlusconi", at least in its evocation. Far from a revolution against the old. The iconoclastic rage has dissolved into a preached imagination and a practiced routine, a safe habit in a country accustomed to “when He was here.” Of course, he lacks the old Italian talent and brilliance that secured him thirty years of sentimental attachment to Italy.

However, imitating him and mentioning him, since we have already commemorated him as the father of the nation, is also useful for talking to moderates, now that Trump must be treated with caution because he imposes tariffs. And then, let's face it, it is much easier to assimilate Berlusconi dead than alive, as an alpha boy negotiating at the table./Adapted from "Pamphlet" by "La Stampa"!
