Iran launched a new wave of attacks in the Middle East on Sunday morning, following confirmation of the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Explosions were heard in several capitals and major cities in the region, according to CNN reports.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched a “sixth wave” of missile and drone attacks against Israel and US bases in the region. Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted the IRGC statement, without providing further details on specific targets.
In Israel, the Israeli military said it had detected missiles fired from Iran towards Israeli territory and activated air defense systems. Sirens sounded in the central and southern parts of the country.

In Iraq, pictures show black smoke rising from a fire at Erbil Airport. Iran's Fars news agency reported that loud explosions were heard in the city on Sunday morning.
