The Israeli military has announced that warplanes have struck terrorist infrastructure and military areas in Lebanon while targeting the Hezbollah militant group.

Israel claims Hezbollah fired rockets from Lebanon into northern Israel on Saturday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Hezbollah, after the Defense Minister did the same earlier in the day.

" Don't make the mistake of going to war. This would be the mistake of your life... Your entry into the war will seal the fate of Lebanon ," Netanyahu said, reports Al Jazeera.

Hezbollah leader Nasrallah responded by saying the armed group used new types of weapons and struck new targets in Israel.

He vowed that the front against the Israelis would "remain active".

The World Health Organization has announced that it has lost communication with its contacts at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

In a post on X, the WHO writes: " As dire reports of the hospital facing repeated attacks continue to emerge, we assume our contacts have joined the tens of thousands of displaced people fleeing the area. "

Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry said earlier that two babies had died and dozens more were in danger at the hospital, the territory's largest, after it ran out of power.

Israel claims al Shifa is a command center for Hamas, but denies endangering the hospital. Hamas says it does not use hospitals in this way, and medical staff have denied Israel's claims.

Meanwhile, heavy airstrikes and bombings have been reported in the area around the largest hospital in Gaza.

Israel's ground forces battled Hamas militants near al-Shifa hospital overnight as attacks continued to hit the belt.

Health officials have said thousands of doctors, patients and displaced people are stranded without power and supplies are running low.

"We spent the night in panic waiting for their arrival. They are outside, not far from the gates," said Ahmed al-Boursh, a resident sheltered in the hospital.

The hospital's last generator ran out of fuel yesterday, killing an infant, a child in an incubator and four other patients, according to the Hamas-led health ministry.

"Medical equipment stopped," hospital director Mohammed Abu Selmia said by phone after the sounds of gunfire and explosions.

He said Israeli troops were "shooting at anyone outside or inside the hospital" and prevented people from moving between buildings.

The World Health Organization said it lost contact with its contacts in Shifa.

The Israeli military confirmed clashes outside the hospital, but spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari denied al Shifa was under siege.

He said troops would help move the babies treated there later today and said the Israel Defense Forces were in contact with hospital staff.
