War in Gaza / Thousands of protesters gather in London in solidarity with

Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in Hyde Park, London yesterday (November 11) to protest Israel's attacks on Gaza, as well as Home Secretary Braverman's criticism of pro-Palestinian marches with the words "hate marches".

The demonstrators, who attended the rally in solidarity with Palestine at the call of many non-governmental organizations in the country, demanded that Israel end its attacks on Gaza, lift the blockade, declare an immediate ceasefire and allow full access of materials of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

The citizens, who also reacted to the description of pro-Palestinian marches as "hate marches" by Braverman, held placards calling for the dismissal of the Secretary of the Interior.

On the other hand, the police took extensive security measures due to the "Armistice Day" ceremonies held in the city on the occasion of the anniversary of the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany in the First World War, reports the Turkish media Anadolu.

London's Metropolitan Police announced the deployment of around 2,000 officers to prevent protesters from meeting with far-right groups who have called for confrontations near military monuments during commemorations.

"If you prevent people from having access to basic needs such as water and food, you are committing genocide," reported London's Metropolitan Police.

National Health System (NHS) worker and trade unionist Bob Joseph, who took part in the march, pointed out that genocide is being carried out in Gaza and said that after the Second World War, all Western countries signed an agreement to prevent new genocides in Gaza. the future.

He said that with this agreement, signatory countries would not commit genocide, stop genocide if it occurs and ensure that those responsible are tried and punished before the courts.

"If you prevent people from having access to basic necessities like water and food, you are committing genocide," he said, stressing that the Israeli government must be condemned.

Otherwise, solidarity marches with Palestine have been held in Britain every Saturday since 14 October. In the first two rallies, demonstrators marched to the entrance of Downing Street, where the Prime Minister is located, towards Parliament in the third march, while the fourth rally took place in Trafalgar Square.

The organizers of the march responded negatively to London's Metropolitan Police, who requested the postponement due to "Armistice Day", and announced that they had adjusted the location and time so as not to affect the commemorative event. Despite this, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described the demonstrations on the day of the ceasefire as "provocation and lack of respect".

Secretary Braverman, who strongly criticized the marches, hit back at London's police, claiming they have a "biased attitude" towards Palestinian protests.
