The head of the UN office in Lebanon, Dorothee Klaus, said the UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) has "no plan B" for the month of March, if donor countries that suspended support for them do not reactivate funds.
Klaus said he hopes that donor countries will continue to send funds so that aid can be sent without interruption to the overcrowded camps.
" We hope that as many donors as possible tell the agency that they are reconsidering the funding freeze and that funding will be returned to the agency, hopefully in such a way that we don't have a cash flow problem and services continue uninterrupted." .We don't have a plan B ," Lebanon chief Dorothee Klaus said.
We recall that last month, Israel accused 12 of the 13,000 UNRWA workers in the Gaza Strip of participating in the October 7 attacks by Hamas.
Sixteen countries suspended funding pending an investigation by the UN watchdog that Ms Klaus said would be ready within weeks. In Lebanon, UNRWA manages 12 camps for refugees, providing services from health care to education.
