Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Iran has a "legitimate" right to defend itself in the face of Israel's continued attacks and bombings.
"It is a very natural, legitimate and legal right for Iran to defend itself from Israel's banditry and state terrorism," the Turkish leader declared, a day after referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as 'the biggest threat to the region's security.'
"These attacks were organized while the Iranian nuclear negotiations were taking place. Israel, which possesses nuclear weapons and does not recognize any international rules... did not wait for the negotiations to end, but committed a terrorist act without waiting for the result. We are closely following Israel's terrorist attacks on Iran. All our institutions are on high alert regarding the possible effects of these attacks on Turkey. We are making preparations for any kind of scenario. No one should dare to test us ," Erdogan said.
On Monday, Erdogan said he ordered the defense industry to increase production of medium- and long-range missiles to prevent attacks between Israel and Iran.
He also stressed that Turkey is doing and will continue to do everything it can "to stop this inhuman aggression both in Gaza and in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and our neighboring country, Iran."
