Pope Leo XIV has called on parties to end conflicts, stating that war is always a defeat.
Mentioning the war in Gaza, in Ukraine and most recently the attacks between Iran and Israel, the Pope says we should not get used to war, but we must reject the 'seduction of powerful and sophisticated weapons'.
"The heart of the Church is torn by the cries that come from war zones, especially from Ukraine, Iran, Israel and Gaza. We must not become accustomed to war, but rather we must reject as a temptation the lure of powerful and sophisticated weapons," the Pope said.
"In the name of human dignity and international law, I reiterate what Pope Francis said: 'War is always a defeat. Nothing is lost with peace, everything can be lost with war,' " he added.
