President Donald Trump said Sunday that his representatives are having very positive discussions with Iran, as the two countries exchange peace proposals.
" I am fully aware that my representatives are having very positive discussions with the country of Iran and that these discussions can lead to something very positive for everyone ," he said in a post on Truth Social.
He also said the US would begin escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday in an effort he called "Project Freedom." He stressed that any interference in this process would be met with force.
“Countries from around the world, almost all of which are not involved in the Middle East dispute, have asked the US to release the ships blocked in the key strait. They are simply neutral and innocent bystanders! For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these countries that we will safely remove their ships from these restricted waterways so that they can freely and skillfully continue their work. This is a humanitarian gesture on behalf of the United States, the countries of the Middle East, but, in particular, the country of Iran, ” he posted on Truth Social.
