US special envoy Steve Witkoff has confirmed that Washington is in contact with Iran, at a time when options for negotiations to end the conflict are being considered.
In a statement to CNN, he briefly stated: "We are in conversation," without adding further details.
This statement comes at a time when, according to a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the US has responded to Tehran's latest proposal, while the Iranian side is considering this response.
Meanwhile, the talks appear to have intensified after a period of stalemate. However, President Donald Trump has expressed skepticism about their progress.
In a reaction on social media, he stated that he "cannot imagine that Iran's latest proposal would be acceptable... they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to humanity."
Witkoff was also seen next to President Trump at the Doral Golf Club during the PGA Cadillac Championship, where he was asked about the latest developments regarding these discussions.
