On New Year's Eve, a drunken police officer freed 13 criminals held in a prison in Zambia. The latter assured them that they had permission to leave.
Thirteen suspected criminals were released on New Year's Eve, while they have not yet been detained by the police.
In a statement, the Zambian police explained that the police officer, "in a drunken state", had forcibly taken the keys from one of his colleagues. He later opened the men's and women's cell doors and ordered them to leave, saying they were free.
Of the 15 inmates involved, 13 of them rushed out of their cells.
Among them there are "suspects who are being prosecuted for serious crimes" and "the fact of their release may pose a significant risk to public safety".
