Russian President Vladimir Putin does not use artificial intelligence tools himself, but officials who work for him do, the Kremlin has announced.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that the Kremlin used artificial intelligence tools to help answer citizens' questions during Putin's annual question-and-answer event.
Putin on Wednesday called for a national working group to coordinate Russia's work on domestically generating artificial intelligence models, which he said were vital for preserving Russian sovereignty.
An artificial intelligence-powered robot danced for Putin on Wednesday at an exhibition organized by Sberbank, Russia's largest bank, designed to showcase the company's technological advances.
Meanwhile, new developments have come to light from the war front with Ukraine.
The Donald Trump administration is said to have secretly prepared a peace plan for the war in Ukraine, according to the Axios news agency, which reports that negotiations with Russia have taken place. The sources of the information come from US and Russian officials. According to Axios, the plan includes 28 steps and is designed to model the approach used in Gaza. The US is reportedly working “covertly” with Russia to draft a new framework aimed at ending the conflict.
The plan includes elements such as “peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe and future U.S. relations with Russia and Ukraine,” a source said. It is led by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, who is said to have discussed the plan at length with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, according to Axios, citing a U.S. official.
Although Ukraine would only be officially informed once the plan was finalized, sources say there were preliminary discussions a few days ago between Witkoff and Rustem Umerov, a security adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. President Zelensky is expected to be briefed on the plan during a meeting with US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George, who are already in Ukraine.
European officials are also being briefed by the US on this initiative. The US press writes that the Trump administration "is optimistic" about this option.
