Tonight, the Summit on Ukraine, which begins at 7:00 PM at the White House, is considered one of the most important moments by world leaders to end a war. In case of failure, the fighting will continue, which was also affirmed by US President Donald Trump.
But the US is ready to keep Russia at the negotiating table at any cost. At least that is what US Senate Majority Leader John Thune claims.
The latter has stated that the Senate will offer Trump "whatever it takes" to keep Russia at the negotiating table. Thune's statements came shortly before the start of the Summit at the White House, the results of which will be announced to Vladimir Putin via a phone call from his American counterpart.
The last question from the media directed at Trump was what he wanted most from his recent meeting with Vladimir Putin.
"I told the president... I just spoke indirectly with President Putin and we will have a phone call immediately after today's meetings.
We may have a tripartite meeting, we may not. If we do not have a tripartite meeting, then the fighting will continue.
And if we do, we have a good chance, I think if we have a trilateral meeting, there's a good chance it will be over.
"But he's expecting my call when we finish this meeting," Trump said.
