Putin challenges forcefully: Donbass is Russian, the war does not stop without

Russian President Vladimir Putin has given another defiant signal to the West and Ukraine, declaring that Russia will not stop until it fulfills all of its military objectives in Ukraine.

During a meeting with the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, Putin stressed that "Russia will bring this war to a logical end" and that "strategic military goals will be achieved."

He reiterated the thesis that Donbass is historically Russian land, while the territories occupied by Russian forces he called “returned land.” The list of areas partially controlled by the Russian military includes: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk — as well as Crimea, annexed in 2014. On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during his visit to Italy, declared that he is ready to organize elections under war conditions, within 60–90 days, if support is provided by the US and the EU for progress and security.

He added that he will ask parliament to pass a special law for elections during martial law and that he has prepared an updated peace plan that will be sent to Washington tomorrow.

"We are working today and will continue tomorrow. I think tomorrow we will submit the plan to the US," Zelensky told reporters.
