President Donald Trump's envoys have given Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky a deadline to respond to a proposed peace deal.
According to the Financial Times, the Ukrainian president told other European leaders that US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner pushed him to make a quick decision during a two-hour phone call on Saturday.
A person familiar with the proposed timeline for Kiev said Trump hoped for a deal reached "by Christmas."
Zelensky had previously said he would need time to discuss the plan with Ukraine's European allies. He then met with Sir Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron of France and Friedrich Merz of Germany in London, followed by trips to Brussels and Rome.
This morning, Zelensky said he would soon share a revised version of the peace plan with the US, while reiterating that the 28 points had been reduced to 20 after several "obvious anti-Ukrainian points were removed".
