The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, said that he is monitoring the situation after it is suspected that a Russian missile entered Poland yesterday.
"I talked with the Polish president (Andrzej Duda) about the missile incident in Poland.
NATO stands in solidarity with our precious ally, is monitoring the situation and we will stay in touch once the facts are established. NATO remains vigilant ," Stoltenberg said in a statement to the media.
The missile is believed to have flown over Polish territory for three minutes before entering Ukrainian airspace.
A search has been launched for the remains of the missile in the regions near the border with Ukraine, but it is not yet known where the missile ended up.
Since the start of the war in Ukraine, two Russian missiles have ended up in Polish territory.
In November last year, two farmers were killed when a missile attempted to be shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces landed in a Polish village near the border.
