Report: Turkey has violated the arms embargo and trained Syrian fighters in

The Turkish opposition newspaper Sozcu has published a report, which talks about the violation of the arms embargo by Turkey in Libya.

Citing a UN report, the paper refers to the role of the Turkish mercenary company SADAT, noting that the 548-page report from 2021 says Egypt, Jordan, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey have violated the arms embargo on Libya.

"The complaints against Turkey say that the transfer of weapons and various weapons systems to Libya is a violation of the arms embargo."

According to the Turkish newspaper, “one of the most surprising claims is that SADAT, described as a Turkish defense company, has provided training support to the government Air Force and Syrian fighters.

The said report states that the support provided violates the embargo defined in Article 9 of Resolution 1970 of the UN Security Council.

It is also noted that SADAT has sent around 5,000 pro-GNA Syrian fighters to Libya and paid them.

In the same publication, the United Nations report for 2023 is also mentioned, which includes the dates and means used by Turkey to transport weapons in violation of the embargo.

"The report states that, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2095, technical and training support to the Libyan government can only be provided for security and disarmament purposes and that the training provided by Turkey as support does not violate the security goals and disarmament.
