The United States has officially denied reports of a possible extension of the two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran.
During a statement to the media, spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said that news suggesting a request from the US to extend the ceasefire is not accurate.
"I saw some reports this morning that we had officially requested an extension of the ceasefire. That is not true," she said.
Leavitt stressed that Washington currently remains involved in active negotiations with Tehran, describing the talks as ongoing and constructive.
"We remain very engaged in these negotiations. These talks are productive and ongoing," she stated, also referring to previous positions of the president and Vice President JD Vance.
She added that the US is optimistic about reaching a deal with Iran. "We feel good about the prospects of a deal," Leavitt said.
As for the conduct of future rounds of talks, she did not confirm a change of location, hinting that negotiations could take place in the same place as before.
