CEC announces final results, paving the way for certification of elections in

The Central Election Commission in Kosovo has announced the final results of the elections held on June 7, paving the way for official certification and the launch of procedures for the formation of new institutions.

The results were made public today during a CEC meeting in Pristina. The chairman of the commission, Kreshnik Radoniqi, announced that the certification is expected to be completed on Monday, after the end of the 48-hour deadline for complaints.

According to the final results, the Vetëvendosje Movement of incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti has won 47.13% of the vote, which translates into 53 seats in the 120-seat Parliament.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo received 19.44% of the vote, or 22 seats, the Democratic League of Kosovo 16.69%, or 18 seats, while the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo secured 6.74% of the vote and 7 seats.

After certification, the process for the constitution of the new Assembly and the formation of the government can begin. With 53 mandates, Vetëvendosje is expected to have an easier time securing the necessary majority of 61 votes for the government.

However, the main challenge remains the election of the new president. The presence of two-thirds of the deputies in the Assembly is required for the vote on the president, an issue that previously caused a political deadlock.

The failure to reach an agreement on the president led to the dissolution of the Assembly in late April and early elections on June 7. So far, political parties have not held talks on a possible agreement.

If consensus is not reached for the president this time, Kosovo could go to early elections again, the fourth within two years.
