The Health Ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said the number of Palestinians killed since the war with Israel began on October 7 has exceeded 8,000.
The ministry said on Sunday that the number of Palestinians killed has reached 8,005, including over 3,300 minors and over 2,000 women.
The Gaza Ministry of Health is part of the Hamas-led government, but also includes doctors and civil servants who are not affiliated with the group.
The number of casualties since the start of the war exceeds the number of casualties recorded by the United Nations, even by Israel's estimates. Gaza's health ministry last week released the names and ages of most of the recorded victims and said some of the bodies have yet to be identified.
Over 1,400 people were killed in Israel - most of them civilians - during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
Since then, Israel has attacked by land, air and sea the Gaza Strip, where 2.3 million Palestinians live./ REL
